いつか生物の進化（系統樹）を路線図にしてみたいと思っていた構想を形にした作品。魚類の「海」から陸に上がり、やがて「空」へ——という進化の流れを、海・陸・空の3路線に分けて路線図として表現。イメージが湧きやすいようにそれぞれの動物のアイコンを配した。地図でも交通でもないテーマに路線図の文法を適用した実験的な作品。
A transit map depicting the evolution of vertebrates (phylogenetic tree), divided into three "lines": sea, land, and air. This piece realized a long-held idea of visualizing biological evolution in the style of a transit map. The evolutionary journey — from fish in the sea, to creatures that ventured onto land, and eventually into the sky — is expressed as three transit routes. Animal icons are placed along the routes to make each branch intuitive. An experimental work that applies the visual language of transit maps to a subject far removed from geography or transportation.
